The Greenville County community is mourning the tragic loss of Noel Lamar Lomax of Piedmont, South Carolina, who died Thursday following a devastating three-vehicle crash along US 25 near West Georgia Road.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal accident involved a 2007 Mini Cooper, a 2005 Nissan SUV, and a 2015 Lexus. Troopers reported that the Nissan SUV, traveling northbound on US 25, changed lanes and struck the Lexus, which was also heading north.
After the initial collision, the Nissan reportedly left the roadway and overturned. Investigators said the Lexus then crossed the center line and collided head-on with the southbound Mini Cooper driven by Noel Lamar Lomax.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but Lomax, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office officially identified the victim as Noel Lamar Lomax of Piedmont. Authorities confirmed his cause of death was blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was ruled accidental.
Officials also stated that the driver and passenger of the Nissan SUV were not injured in the incident, while the driver of the Lexus was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
An external examination was scheduled for Friday as part of the ongoing investigation.
Family members, friends, and members of the Piedmont and Greenville County communities are grieving the sudden loss as tributes and condolences continue to emerge following news of Lomax’s passing.
