Born in South Carolina to Amy and Phillip Polefrone, David was known from an early age for his curiosity, determination, and passion for learning. Friends and family remember him as someone who possessed not only a brilliant mind but also a caring heart that made others feel valued and supported.
David attended the University of Maryland, where he pursued studies in economics and chemistry. During his time there, he distinguished himself academically while also becoming actively involved in student leadership and campus organizations. He participated in Student Government, parliamentary debate programs, and the prestigious Omicron Delta Kappa leadership society. His dedication, leadership skills, and warm personality earned him the respect of classmates, professors, and friends alike.
After graduating with honors, David continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry. His passion for science, innovation, and research drove him to excel in every challenge he faced. Most recently, David had relocated to Washington, D.C., where he began building a promising career in data science. He was excited about the future and eager to contribute his talents to meaningful projects. David leaves behind his loving parents, Amy and Phillip Polefrone; his sister Joy and brother-in-law Nick; grandparents Jim and Judy; along with numerous extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents Joe and Mae, whom family members say he deeply loved and respected.
A memorial service celebrating David’s life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Naples United Church of Christ in Naples, Florida. Another memorial gathering is expected to take place later in Ellicott City, Maryland. In honor of David’s passions and interests, the family has requested donations be made to organizations including the Cornell School of Ornithology, The American Legion, Omicron Delta Kappa at the University of Maryland, The Henrietta Lacks Foundation, and The Bird Gardens of Naples.
